Alessi Christmas
I love Alessi’s new Christmas figurine collection and the cute animation they created to promote the characters — so fun! I think the sound effects are the best part!
Keith Haring Balloon
Continuing with a tradition started when I was about six, my parents and I journeyed to the Upper West Side the night before Thanksgiving to see the balloons being blown up for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Like all things in New York, through the years this has become quite popular and it is now a heavily policed and organized event in NYC. I remember a time when there were just crews...
Black and White
My cats love our black and white furniture, they blend in so well.
Bumble Slowflakes
It’s that time of year when great holiday promotions that designers have been working on all fall start to emerge. These snowflake cards, decorated with bobby pins and hair elastics, are designed by Piet Houtenbos for Bumble & bumble. They are amazing! I love the color. It is a great way to gift and promote product while sending warm wishes. It looks like the snowflake cards were...
Sweet Turkey
Today at work, a printer/friend of the studio sent over some Thanksgiving treats in the form of chocolate candied apple turkeys. How great is the gummy worm gobble?? Unfortunately the one pictured below seemed to have suffered some trauma en route — a little too much beak to windshield, I’d say. Not only are these turkeys great fun, they are delicious too (and vegetarian)! We carved one up...
Multicolr Flickr Search Lab
Idee has developed a way to browse photos on flickr, by color — search by single colors or create a pallet. It is great, I just used it on Friday to help find inspiration for a project that is all about color! Check it out.

Pink Neon Christmas
Kate Spade has a 2008 holiday gift guide on their site. I love the pink neon light typography and the irregular blinking to indicate the rollovers. It is strange because it is so far from a typical holiday approach, but there is still something festive about it. The copywriting is great too — “Give Warmth, Give Purpose, Give Luxury.”
The page reminds me of last summer’s Free...
USB "Port"
Apparently due to a new EU trade rule, wineries can’t use the word “port” on their label unless the wine was actually made in Portugal. California’s Peltier Station Winery, however, invented a loophole: they called their new dessert wine “USB” and put a tree with USB roots on the label. The USB-tree is apparently composed of binary code that translates to...

3 of a Kind
I love the paperback cover design(s) for the late, Chilean novelist Roberto Bolaño’s last work entitled 2666. The 3 paperback covers are a translation of the single hard cover edition. I love the way the numerical title on each spine wraps around to the cover so that it reads separately on each book while also working as a section of the title when the 3 spines sit together on a shelf.

I'm So Glad We Did It!
Phew. Sigh of relief.
Today's The Day To VOTE!!!!
Below is a poster I designed this spring at MSLK for the AIGA’s Get Out The Vote 2008 non-partisan poster project. You can view all the submitted posters here.
5 ptz
Adam, Sean and I biked up to 5 pointz in LIC yesterday to check out the grafitti.
“5 Pointz is a free public outdoor art exhibit that spans a full city block in Long Island City, Queens. It is a commercial factory building that is almost entirely covered by Aerosol Art, more commonly known as graffiti. “
I especially loved this black and white piece.
Speaking of Circles...
A former colleague of mine just sent out an email announcing that he will now be working for Peeq Media. I checked out their site and liked it… Maybe the intro is a bit much? Most of all it reminded me of my last post (below this) about Charles Lutz’s new painting series on circle canvases. It also reminded me a bit of the opening spread of my senior degree book about Times Square.
