Letter Cult
LetterCult just posted their picks for Best of 2009 So Far. It is a great collection of custom typograhy. Better yet, my friend Nick has 2 peices featured in it.
The Regulars
In this week’s NY Mag Approval Matrix I spotted Sarah Stolfa’s book entitled The Regulars — a collection of portraits of Philadelphia barflies. Of course I was intrigued. As it turns out these portraits were all taken at a bar called McGlinchey’s which was a favorite watering hole of mine my sophmore year of college. Ohh memories. I think these are great, but maybe you need to...
Photo-Lettering for a New Generation
The Photo-Lettering library is a collection of film-based display type that was widely used from 1936 until the rise of desktop publishing. In 2003, House Industries purchased Photo-Lettering’s entire assets. House is digitizing the collection and is about to launch PhotoLettering.com — a web service that will allow designers to access the same hand-designed type used in the days before...
Mangano Mini
Check out my parent’s new Mini. My mom has wanted a convertable her whole life and she finally has one! Fuel efficient and cool as shit. Yippee, I can’t wait to take it out for a spin!
We Have Band ->Have Amazing Video
This video for We Have Band’s Song, You Came Out is like a beautiful nightmare. The video mixes hand-applied make-up with frame by frame animation. AMAZING, simple, ingenious, and awesome. I like the song too. See a clip about how they made the video here. [via The Walrus]
We Have Band You Came Out
Râpe à Fromage
Check out this very awesome Eiffel Tower shaped mini cheese grater my parents brought me from Paris. I love the packaging it comes in (I might never take it out). The bag from the store with its ribbon closure is great too. Even though there are Pylones in NYC it is so much better that it came from Paris! Qui, Qui!
Fire Design
Check out these crazy fire extinguishers by Fire Design. Now this has to be a niche market. Talk about a little luxury that you can’t help but justify as a need. I keep thinking that these would go great with the designer axes I posted a little while back. [via the dieline]
My Love For You : Danielle Rizzolo
Check out my friend Danielle’s paintings feature on the blog My Love for You!!
ROCKMADE
It’s been a stressful couple weeks (to say the least). But when I came across ROCKMADE’s candy prints again they made me forget my worries for a second and smile — so that certainly makes them worthy of a post. If I could buy all the monochromatic compositions I would hang the series on my wall as art therapy.
The Body Politic
Check out this very cool illustrated poster for the Brooklyn Art Collective that I walked by this evening in my hood.
Letters & Ligatures
If I still lived in Philly I would have definitely been at House Industryies’ Letters & Ligatures opening at the 222gallery last night. Check out picts from the first leg of the show in L.A. this past November. UPDATE: picts from the philly show.
Soodaa
I meet James Reeve’s of Red Antenna in NYC last spring. Since then he has packed up and moved to Helsinki. Below are some beautiful cans of Finnish soda pop that he posted on his site.
Press Pass
When I went to WNYC’s site to make my contribution (I can’t resist a dollar for dollar match) I was pretty surprised and impressed by the pledge drive landing page. Visually simple but somewhat arresting and kind of hard to turn down. I do strongly believe in publicly supported media outlets and that’s why I donate even though I am dead broke. You should too: www.wnyc.org/support
Canal Street Air Force One
If you know the street, you’ll appreciate the concept for this custom design. [via Jessperation]
