NoteSlate

NoteSlate doesn’t hit the market until June 2011 but I already want one. It is low cost tablet device with true one colour display, real paper look design, long life battery (180h !). Just one colour is enough to express the basics. Keep your life simple. You will love it. For $99.

Bear Flag Wine

Tonight as I picked up a bottle of wine, I thought there nothing is better than a good wine at a great price with an awesome label. Bear Flag is just that. On the bottle that I bought (white wine blend #1) there are check boxes for “like it” and “don’t like it” and a halfway line for the great optimist/pessimist debate. Go out and grab a bottle, enjoy!

MTA.me

If you haven’t seen this yet, you should. Brooklyn based Interactive designer and musician, Alexander Chen has created this great project, called Conductor, where he takes live information feeds from the MTA, and visualizes the train paths — a musical note is generated every time two trains cross paths. Very pretty, very cool. This is done with only, html 5 and java, crazy! [via file under]

Worry Wheel

The other day, my friend Nick pointed out that I am always worrying out about something… so as I just came across one of Andre Kuo’s worry wheels on FFFFFound it seemed appropriately to post it. Andrew Kuo is a NYC based artist who creates obsessive charts analyzing non-quantitative data. His diagrams represent his own sets of quirky data in various arrangements of color and pattern. His music digrames have been featured in the New York Times’ music section for the last several months.

Embroidered News

Lauren Dicioccio’s work is so cool and even better I love her ideas behind it! Her artist statement is below, visit her portfolio site to see more of her work. [via Miss Modular]

My work investigates the physical/tangible beauty of commonplace mass-produced media-objects, most recently: the newspaper, magazines, office papers and writing pads, plastic bags, 35 mm slides. These media are becoming obsolete, replaced by the invisible efficiency of various technologies. In some cases, this transition is a good thing- faster transmission and distribution of information, streamlined systems, openness to user input, less waste. But a hole is left behind by the disappearance of these everyday objects. What will happen when we no longer touch information? When newsprint does not rub off onto our fingertips? When we no longer write longhand?

MoMA Membership Materials

There are a lot of great things about being a member of the MoMA. I always enjoy the materials they send when you renew (if only they would stop sending new cards). How great and unexpected is this knit version of their logo? Love!

Duck and Cover?

The US government has a new website, ready.gov with material that uses icons in the style of the old WWII “duck and cover” signs. These new icons are so ambiguous/bad that someone posted some hilarious interpretations here.
