I grew up in Schenectady NY (on the outskirts of Albany) in the middle of the 3 shriveling industrial cities (Albany, Schenectady, Troy). More recently New York’s Capital region has been working towards reinvigorating their rich history of arts and culture in the area . The results of art investment is increasingly visible and the Albany area is steadily becoming a much cooler place…

Considering this, I shouldn’t have been quite so surprised to discover a design studio in Troy called id29 that is putting out some pretty cool work. The piece below is part of a brand development project for Merlin (a high-end bike manufacturer). The piece is featured in Print Magazine’s 2008 Regional Design Annual.
